CHARLOTTE — It will now be a little easier to get your passport in Mecklenburg County.
The City of Charlotte opened a new passport acceptance office at the clerk’s office at the Government Center in Uptown on Tuesday.
Regular processing could take 8 to 11 weeks, while expedited passports are expected to take 5 to 7 weeks. The center will be open daily during the week.
The grand opening for the new center was hosted in the government center, with an appearance from Mayor Pro-Tem Braxton Winston and other local leaders.
