New Lincoln-Catawba County border to take effect this week

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A new border between Lincoln and Catawba counties will be official this week.

Our partners at the Hickory Daily Record report the new border shifts south, giving Catawba County more land and more citizens.

More than 150 properties in Lincoln County are impacted.  The majority are in the Denver area.

The change comes after Catawba and Lincoln requested surveys into the accuracy of the border.

Some are concerned about the impacts to schools and property values.

Lincoln County is hosting two community meetings. The first is scheduled for Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the East Lincoln Community Center in Denver.

The second is set for Wednesday at the James W. Warren Citizens Center in Lincolnton.
