HICKORY, N.C. — Channel 9 has learned of a major development Wednesday morning in the case of a former Hickory police officer accused of assaulting a woman during an arrest.
The Catawba County grand jury has issued new indictments against Robert George for both felony and misdemeanor assault charges involving Chelsea Doolittle.

Doolittle was seriously injured during an arrest involving George.
His attorney spoke to Channel 9 about the new indictments, which give a jury more options if the case ever goes to trial.
"Clearly, from the beginning it has been our position that Robert is not guilty of an intentional felonious assault," said Lisa Dubbs.
On Tuesday, a judge had dismissed the misdemeanor resisting arrest charge against Doolittle.
