CHARLOTTE — A new care facility has opened in the Queen City.

On Saturday, the Charlotte Community Health Clinic (CCHC) opened a CCHC Express Care location in collaboration with the Smith Family Wellness Center. This facility will increase access to same-day primary care services for residents of Mecklenburg County who might not have reliable care.

Another goal of the new CCHC Express Care location is to address the county’s need for more affordable care for patients with serious needs and to decrease visits to the emergency room.

CCHC received a federal ARPA grant in 2021 that provided funds for the construction and design of the new facilities. In 2022, CCHC got additional funding, including $600,000 in community project funding and over $3.5 million from Mecklenburg County ARPA.

CCHC Express Care will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings at 3622 Central Avenue. The facility takes Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and no insurance.
