CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Crosland Southeast has received substantial feedback after outreach to neighborhood and business groups as it maps out the future of a key site in Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood neighborhood.
In March, Crosland Southeast and Nuveen Real Estate acquired the 12-acre Central Square shopping center site at Pecan and Central avenues, paying $49.8 million for the property. Since closing, executives at Crosland Southeast have conducted community surveys and Zoom calls with area residents on what they hope to see for the site’s next chapter.

Major themes brought up in the survey: keeping neighborhood character authentic with any new development, the ability to have community events and art on site, and consideration for parking needs.
