The animal has been seen several times at the Bloomfield Apartments off Highway 321. Residents shared a video of the bear with Channel 9′s Dave Faherty, and they said the bear was limping and may have hurt its leg.
They have asked a conservancy group to set up a camera to learn more about the animal.
“His back right leg appears to be missing his paw,” resident Samantha Yopp said. “We didn’t really get so close.”
“It’s a little scary, but I don’t know, it kind of puts you in your place,” resident Augusta Nichols said.
Neighbors said the complex is looking at purchasing a bear-proof dumpster to keep the bear, and others, out of the area.
