GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Gaston County police have arrested two men accused of shooting someone at his home early Friday.
The victim, 55-year-old Shane Lamar Woody, was shot on Rocky Ridge Way around 1 a.m. It’s near Crowder’s Mountain.
Channel 9′s Ken Lemon learned Woody’s 8-year-old granddaughter was there at the time. She and her mother helped him after he was shot.

“Me and my 8-year-old daughter just witnessed my dad and her granddad getting shot,” Woody’s daughter told Lemon.
Woody’s daughter said the two suspects, Christopher Joseph Brewer and Jerry Jerome Johnson Jr., stepped onto their front porch and got into an argument, yelling at her father through an open door. She said her father tried to close the front door and one of the men used his arm to push the door open.
She said she told the two men to please leave because she had a sleeping daughter who had to go to school in the morning, but she told Lemon they didn’t care.
Woody’s daughter said that was when her dad grabbed his cell phone.
“The man asked his friend ‘is he calling the cops?’ and his friend replied ‘yes’ and as soon as he said yes, he shot my father,” she said.
She told Lemon she tried to put pressure on her father’s wound and call for help but it wasn’t working. That’s when she turned to her daughter.
“I told her ‘baby I need you to press this hard on Paw Paw right here so mama could run outside and get help,” she said.
Woody is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital.
“That’s the only parent I have left,” his daughter told Lemon.
“Think about how you’d feel if that was your father,” she added.
Police arrested one of the suspects, Christopher Joseph Brewer, at the scene. Gaston County police said Johnson drove away before officers arrived but was found later Friday and arrested. Woody’s daughter said both men are his neighbors.
Brewer and Johnson each face charges of attempted first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery, and conspiracy.
The investigation into this case is ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident can call Crimestoppers at 704-861-8000.
