BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — One person is dead after a fatal crash that happened on Saturday afternoon in Burke County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the crash happened just before 5 p.m. on N.C. 181 near Gingercake Road.
The crash involved one vehicle, a 2023 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. NCSHP says the motorcycle was driving south on N.C. 181 when the driver went off the right side of the road and hit a tree. The driver, 20-year-old Samuel Reyes-Luna from Matthews, was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries at the scene.
Troopers closed parts of N.C. 181 while they were investigating; they say speed was a factor in the crash.
