NC Lottery winner: Record $1.1M jackpot won in Gaston County

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Someone walked into a local grocery in Gaston County on Friday morning, bought a Jackpot 777 Fast Play ticket, and won the biggest jackpot so far in the game, $1,143,007, N.C. Education Lottery officials announced.

The winner purchased the lucky ticket at Metcalf’s Grocery on Tryon School Road in Bessemer City.

At the time of the purchase, the jackpot had hit the $1.14 million mark. Since it was a $10 ticket, the winner receives 100% of the jackpot.

The win sets a new record for a Fast Play jackpot and a Fast Play win. The jackpot crossed the $1 million mark for the first time on Tuesday night.

Previously, the biggest Fast Play win occurred on March 11 when a $20 100X The Cash ticket won a $920,665 jackpot and $200,000 cash because it was a $20 ticket.

Friday’s winner has 180 days to claim the prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

The instantly growing jackpot increases with every ticket sold until it is won. After the Friday morning win, the jackpot started over at $20,000.
