CARY, N.C. — Police said a North Carolina driver is safe after she tried to beat an Amtrak train across the tracks.
The train left Charlotte Thursday and was headed to New York when a driver in Cary tried to go around the stop arms, causing the train to crash into her car.
The woman's car made it just far enough that the train only hit the rear driver's side door.
The entire back portion of her car was nearly ripped off, but the woman only suffered minor injuries.
