CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A North Carolina bar owner has helped crack the case of a woman's missing wedding ring.

The woman was at Jimmy’s at Red Dog’s Pub, a bar in Wrightsville Beach, when she lost her wallet, which had her wedding ring inside.

The bar's owner, Jimmy Galleesse, searched the surveillance video and saw a teen outside the bar pull money out of the wallet before throwing it in the ocean.

Galleesse found the boy, who told him he only took the money because he was homeless and hadn't eaten in two days.

So Galleesse and the teen met with police and divers to try to find the wallet.

"Out of nowhere, the diver came up with the wallet,” Galleesse said. “I just looked at him (the teen) and said ‘That ring better be in that wallet.’ Everything he told us was 100 percent truth from the get-go. This boy stepped up like a man."

The owner of the ring asked for charges against the boy to be dropped.

While police work to help the teen, he is staying with Galleesse and his fiancee.
