WOODFIN, N.C. — Some residents of an apartment complex in Woodfin want everyone to have to register their dog's DNA.
They say some owners aren't picking up after their pets and want to know whom.
Residents have until March 9 to take their dog to the main office for a free saliva swab, so that the culprits can be tracked down.
“I clean up after my dogs and I think other people should do the same, but it's gotten out of hand,” dog owner Peter Gillette said.
If DNA results point to an owner's dog that person will have to pay a fine. The initial fine is $100, and $150 after that.
