National Police Week is from May 9 through May 15 and provides programs to keep officers safe while honoring those who have died in the line of duty.
“James Brent McCants,” the announcer said.
McCants is one of 11 officers killed in the line of duty in York County.
Myra McCants was at the ceremony and when she hears her son’s name read aloud, memories rush in.

“You don’t want anybody to forget your child,” she told reporter Greg Suskin. “He gave his life for York County.”
