National homebuilders file plans to add up to 135 townhouses across Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two large national homebuilders have recently filed plans for new townhouse projects in Charlotte.

PulteGroup Inc. this month filed a rezoning petition to build up to 63 townhouses in the Commonwealth Park neighborhood. The project would be developed on 3.4 acres at 1451 Briar Creek Road, where a church community center is today.

A site plan for the project indicates three-story townhouses up to 48 feet in height would be built, in addition to a small network of private streets and alleys.

And in north Charlotte, homebuilder D.R. Horton Inc. filed plans to build up to 72 townhouses on Reames Road, near Northpark Boulevard and the Interstate 77 interchange. The Arlington, Texas, homebuilder filed its plans for a 9.1-acre site that’s largely undeveloped today.
