NORTH CAROLINA — Hundreds of National Guard members have to pay back money they received for helping people during Hurricane Matthew because officials overpaid them.

The audit states officials overpaid more than 1,000 soldiers for each day they were activated during hurricane relief in 2016.
An extra $38,000 went out to the National Guardsmen.
Those soldiers are now required to pay back the money by next Tuesday.
