CONCORD, N.C. — NASCAR fan Chris Strausbaugh drove seven hours from Pennsylvania just for a chance to drive on the brand new ROVAL road course at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“I couldn't pass it up,” he said. “I've probably done crazier things for the love of NASCAR. This is up there though."

Strausbaugh and dozens of other fans with tickets to September’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 enjoyed the unique experience of driving their own car on the road course Saturday.
“It was fun,” NASCAR fan Justin Kuhlman said. “You can really feel the banking. You really feel the turns."
NASCAR drivers tested their turns on the track last week and will test it again on Tuesday.
The ROVAL incorporates the speedway's traditional mile and a half oval course with a brand new stretch of road course, creating a 2.28-mile circuit.
“Just something new and different,” said Jonathan Coleman, public relations director at Charlotte Motor Speedway. “The first time it's ever been done in NASCAR. The first road course race in the playoffs for NASCAR, so a lot of fan excitement, a lot of buzz. A lot of challenge for the drivers we've heard from already about the course."
On Tuesday, NASCAR fans are invited to watch drivers test the new ROVAL road course from the grandstands.
After, there will be an opportunity for fans to ask drivers questions.
