MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — South Carolina’s Grand Strand could be in for a rough night because Idalia is expected to continue churning up significant storm surge.
The Category 3 storm made landfall in Florida and although it lost its fuel moving over land, it put a damper on vacationers’ plans across the coast.
Scott Brookbank and his friends arrived in Myrtle Beach from Ohio to golf.

“It’s been five years since I’ve had a proper golf vacation and my buddy called me up,” Brookbank told Channel 9′s Jonathan Lowe.
The storm whipped its way across the South Carolina coast with some heavy bands of wind and rain.
Ocean Boulevard was temporarily impassable stranding cars in its median.
