The school resource officer on campus immediately called for backup and more officers came, along with York County sheriff's deputies.
"One of these kids is gonna be severely hurt or killed," said Chris, who did not want to give his last name.
He has a daughter that goes to the school and said there have been fights all week. He suspects them to be gang-related.
"She said blood was all over the walls and the windows, and a bunch of kids were just getting beat up and slammed around," Chris said.
The school was on lockdown from 8:15 to 10 a.m. while Rock Hill police got the situation under control.
Authorities have not said what led to the fight but said eight students were removed from the school by police.
Classes resumed but Rock Hill police officers will stay at the high school for the rest of the day.
Extra officers stayed on campus for the rest of the school day as a precaution.
Some parents who showed up to pick up their children were hoping to meet with school leaders but were asked to leave. Chris said he wants to help make sure this doesn't happen again.
"I would like to work with the school to help all the kids,” Chris said. “I'm sure the other parents would do the same thing."
The eight students were charged with inciting a riot and disorderly conduct.
No other information has been released at this point.

The school was placed on lockdown from 8:15 to 10 a.m. to allow law enforcement and school officials to determine if additional students were involved. During this time, school staff sent phone messages to parents to inform them of the situation. By 10:15 a.m., the school resumed normal operations. As a cautionary measure, Rock Hill Police Department officers will remain on site for the remainder of the day.
