Motorcycle passenger dies after crash in Gastonia

GASTONIA, N.C. — A woman who was hospitalized after a motorcycle crash last week has died, according to the Gastonia Police Department on Monday.

The department says Natalie Hubbard, 30, died Friday after she was a passenger on a motorcycle that was hit by a car on Thursday.

According to GPD, officers were called to the crash just after 8 p.m. on W. Franklin Boulevard, near Highland Street. Police investigators say a Volvo car was going west on Franklin Boulevard when it tried to turn left into a parking lot. The motorcycle was going east approaching Highland Street when the crash happened.

Police say the driver of the motorcycle, a 34-year-old man from Belmont, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. His current condition wasn’t made available.

The driver of the Volvo car was identified as a 16-year-old girl from Rock Hill. She wasn’t reported to be hurt.

The news release from GPD didn’t say if charges are expected to be filed against either driver. GPD says the crash is still under investigation and they’re asking for witnesses to call 704-866-6967.
