CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Saturday, Mothers of Murdered Offspring came together to remember those who have lost their lives to violence.
The group hosted their “Victims Roll Call” at Frazier Park in west Charlotte. They named the victims who died in 2020 to senseless violence.

121 people in Charlotte were murdered last year, the most violent year in Charlotte in decades.
Organizers said they hope this moment helps families dealing with grief.
“We hope that we can end this violence. These senseless acts of violence. We hope that families find a place to put the grief and find a way to use what’s happened to them to better our community,” said Lisa Crawford, MOMO administrator. “And we just want to bring families together so they know that they’re not in this by themselves.”
They hope senseless acts of violence will stop, and people find a better way to deal with conflict without resorting to violence.
“People need to know, when you take someone’s child, you destroy families. My family is destroyed. We will never be the same again,” said Jacqueline Lewis, whose son was fatally shot two months ago.
