ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — A mother is desperate for answers nearly a year after someone shot and killed her son.

Damian Brayboy, 29, was shot and killed at his home in Richmond County in January and police haven’t made any arrests.

His mother said he was a good son and father to his four children.

Tammy Brayboy said she has many questions about what happened to her son and hopes the public can help investigators provide more answers.

“He was a good father,” she said at her Rockingham home. “I was so proud of him.”

On Jan. 28, Tammy Brayboy said she drove to her son’s house off Springhill Church Road in Hamlet after he stopped responding to text messages.

She found her son dead in the living room.

Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office investigators said someone shot Damian Brayboy multiple times.

“I just laid there beside him in the blood, and I was telling him how much I Ioved him,” the mother said. “I said, ‘Damian don’t leave me. Please don’t leave me. You got babies. Don’t leave.’”

Tammy Brayboy said she wants to know what happened and who killed her son.

“I’m never going to feel at peace if this goes undone,” she said. “I’m never going to get my peace. I want justice for Damion.”

Richmond County Sheriff’s Office detectives said they have persons of interest in the case but they haven’t been identified.

If you have any information that could help investigators, you can contact the sheriff’s office 910-410-1117 or submit an anonymous tip to crime stoppers.
