CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte teenager who died last year was honored with prayer, balloons and music.
The family of Shania Hammonds held a small gathering on Beatties Ford Road one year after the teen's body was found behind her east Charlotte home on Willow Gate Lane.
An autopsy report released in December said the medical examiner's office does not know how she died.
Shania’s mother, Frenetta Hammonds said she's begging for answers.

"It’s been rough and the most hardest thing about it is not knowing,” Hammonds said. “Not knowing what happened to my daughter. No closure for me. No closure for my family. A whole year has gone by and they haven't told me anything."
Hammond previously told Channel 9 that she believes someone killed her daughter.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is treating the incident as a death investigation.
