Mother takes the stand in infant's murder trial

Todd Boderick is accused of killing a 6-month-old child. His trial continued Monday.

The baby girl's mother took the stand and testified as to why it took days before the couple got her any help.

Also charged in the child's murder is 24-year-old Krishay Mouzon, who took the stand as a witness in the murder trial of Boderick.

Police were called to a motel on Tuckaseegee Road in 2012 and found 6-month-old Keyoni not breathing.

Doctors said she had a fractured skull and ribs.

Mouzon said the child stopped breathing the day before officials were called.

“He said she is not breathing,” Mouzon said.

Then, instead of calling for help Mouzan said “We went to smoke a cigarette."

They didn't call for help until the next day and Mouzon said they had worked out a story.

“He told me to tell her that Alaya was holding her and she dropped her,” Mouzon said.

The baby’s father, Boderick, is representing himself and in a bizarre scene Monday was able to question the woman who police said was also responsible for the young child’s death.

“You haven't been offered anything for your testimony correct?” Boderick asked.

“Correct,” Mouzon said.

Boderick frequently turned to a man behind him for help in asking questions, and procedures in court and seemed to focus mostly on a letter Mouzon wrote where she said he had nothing to do with the child’s death.

She claims Boderick made her write the letter.

“It’s not true. You made me do things,” Mouzon said in court.

“So why did you was in jail?” Boderick said.

“I thought I loved you,” Mouzon said.

Krishay Mouzon is expected to continue her testimony Tuesday.
