WOODRUFF, S.C. — The mother of an accused South Carolina serial killer is speaking out for the first time.
Reggie Tague said her son, Todd Kohlhepp, is unable to control his rage and anger, which caused him to seek revenge when he killed four people in 2003.
Investigators said Kohlhepp admitted to the murders, and Tague spoke to her son after his arrest.
"I said, ‘Todd why? Why did you do this? You had everything. I gave you everything,’" she said.
Kohlhepp told his mother that the victims embarrassed him at the superbike store and made him feel bad when all he wanted was to be taught how to ride a motorcycle.
This week, investigators identified two other bodies found on Kohlhepp's Woodruff, South Carolina property as 25-year-old Meagan Coxie and her husband, 29-year-old Johnny Coxie.
They were discovered last week, days after authorities searching the property found Kala Brown chained alive in a metal storage container.
Police found her boyfriend, Charlie Carver, in a shallow grave.
Kohlhepp's mother spoke about Carver, saying her son thought he had a smart mouth and he didn't like it. She also had a message for the victims' families.
"I am so sorry. If I had thought for two seconds early on that he had done it, I would have called the sheriff," Tague said.
Authorities believe they've found all the bodies on Kohlhepp's land and said he may be responsible for at least seven murders, and are searching other properties he owns.
