CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It has been nearly four years since someone shot and killed a 7-year-old as he attended a birthday party in Charlotte over Labor Day Weekend.
On Monday, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced the state is offering a $5,000 reward in the case.
Kevin Rodas was at a birthday party and playing outside when he was killed in a drive-by shooting.
Authorities said two men and a 5-year-old were also injured in the shooting, but their injuries were non-life threatening.

Police said the suspects took off and still have not been identified and arrested.
Kevin Rodas' mother Maria Gladys Rodas said life has not been the same without Kevin.
“I never thought I would lose my son, ever,” Maria Gladys Rodas said. "I still love my son just as much as the first day he was born. He was my everything.”

Maria Gladys Rodas said she hasn't heard any updates about her son's case in over a year.
"I ask God for strength, but I want to know who did it," Maria Gladys Rodas said.
She didn’t want to go to the birthday party, but her family insisted.
"I asked my boy, ‘Do you want to go to your cousin's birthday party?’ And he said, ‘Let's go, Mom,’" Maria Gladys Rodas said.
She wants someone to come forward with information and for detectives remember Kevin.
"I'm asking from the bottom of my heart, please keep fighting to find the people who killed my son," Maria Gladys Rodas said.
The investigation is ongoing and active.
In addition to the $5,000 reward from the Governor's Office, Crime Stoppers has also offered up to a $5,000 reward.
