GASTONIA, N.C. — A mother and daughter dove to the ground after a bullet flew into their Gastonia home.
The bullet left behind a huge hole that went right into the dining room of the home on North Morris Street around 4 a.m. Thursday.
"One window over, that would have been my head," the woman said. "Bringing that out to the streets and shooting aimlessly? Bullets have no name on them."
It was so startling that the mother asked Channel 9 not to show her face for fear the shooters might return.
She said she bought the house two years ago, but she is now considering moving out.
"It’s not fun. I mean I have heard gunshots before but to know that your child is sleeping there, it could have been her head or my head. That's horrible,” she said.

She said her 13-year-old was on the other side of the house while she and her 10-year-old daughter fell asleep watching movies when the shooting started.
She told Channel 9's Gaston County reporter Ken Lemon she woke up to the sound of squealing tires outside her window.
"It was a chase. I heard two cars. The louder car was the one that woke me up," she said.
She said she heard about seven gunshots back to back and she grabbed her 10-year-old and dove to the floor.
"I just took her leg and dragged her off the bed onto the floor," she said.
She said she thought several shots hit her house, but she only found one that pierced the glass.
She added police said the crime appears to be random and there are no apparent witnesses to the crime.
