MORGANTON, N.C. — City leaders in Morganton are looking for solutions to a growing population of people experiencing homelessness.

The city told Channel 9′s Dave Faherty it cleaned up twice as many homeless camps in 2022 as it did the year before.

The executive director of Burke United Christian Ministries believes the community must come together to find answers.

“We have to address this corroboratively. We have to address this as a community,” Alice Horton said. “It can’t just be ‘I did this one thing,’ ‘I offered this one meal,’ ‘I provided this one thing,’ ‘I cleaned up one camp.’”
