MATTHEWS, N.C. — More than two dozen firefighters from multiple departments in Mecklenburg and Union counties are fighting a large brush fire in the town of Matthews Saturday afternoon.
The fire, according to MEDIC, is off East John Street and Morningwood Drive.
The fire began around midday and a mass casualty bus has been called to scene to serve as a cooling center for the firefighters working to control the blaze.
Mecklenburg EMS says medic crews are on scene for rehab operations for the firefighters.
There’s no word on how the fire started or whether any structures could potentially be affected.
