CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Saturday morning, children, some as young as four years old marched in Charlotte to protest injustice.
The Charlotte Children’s March started in First Ward Park, where more than 300 kids and their families participated.
Jaxson Brooks, 9, decided to create this march for kids after attending and watching several protests and rallies around Charlotte.
“Because a lot of grown-ups have been at other marches that I have been to and few kids, so we need kids also,” Brooks said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office were also there to support the march.
“It is great because we say they are our future so we should treat them as the future, and then we should support them,” Mecklenburg County Sheriff Gary McFadden said.
Brooks said he was surprised and happy with the great turnout.
