CHARLOTTE — A crash in north Charlotte cut power for thousands of people along Statesville Road in Huntersville and caused delays to the morning commute on Friday.
Traffic Team 9′s Mark Taylor began reporting on a dump truck that pulled down utility lines on W.T. Harris Boulevard near Reames Road around 5 a.m.
At its peak, Duke Energy’s outage map reported 2,300 customers were without power stretching from Beatties Ford Road in north Charlotte to Stumptown Road in Huntersville along both sides of Interstate 77.

W.T. Harris Boulevard reopened around 7 a.m. and much of the power was restored by 8 a.m.
At 12:30 p.m. just over 500 people were still dealing with outages, mostly in north Charlotte. Later in the afternoon, power was restored.
The Huntersville Police Department warned drivers that some intersections were without power and should be treated as four-way stops. Around 8 a.m., HPD said many of the lights at intersections were restored.
