Due to the anticipated weather, American Airlines announced plans to reduce its operations in Charlotte.
Scattered cancellations are expected through Monday morning. The majority of these cancellations will be on smaller, regional aircraft.
American Airlines has issued a travel alert for 17 airports, including their Charlotte hub. The travel alert allows customers whose travel plans may be impacted by this inclement weather to rebook without paying fees.
Officials said that throughout the night, airport staff will clear the airfield, airport roadways, overpasses and parking lots as needed. De-icing of aircraft has begun and is expected to continue Sunday
