HIGH POINT, N.C. — More North Carolinians plan to shop on Black Friday this year — but a third of them aren't planning to visit brick-and-mortar stores to make their purchases, a High Point University poll has revealed.
According to the HPU poll, 38% of North Carolinians plan to shop on the Friday after Thanksgiving, up from 31% in last year's poll. Just over half (53%) of residents polled said they will not shop on Black Friday this year, compared to 59% percent last year.
A third of those who plan to shop will do so both in stores and online, while 32% plan to shop mainly online and 24% plan to shop mainly in stores. The proportion of shoppers going online hasn't changed must since last year, when 35% said they would do most of their shopping online and 25% were headed to stores, according to the 2018 HPU Poll.
