MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Bobby Compton, a commissioner for the Town of Mooresville, has announced his candidacy for the mayoral seat.
Compton is a Mooresville native, as well as a retired firefighter.
“From my years as a firefighter to my current seat as commissioner, improving the lives of Mooresville residents has been at the forefront,” said Compton. “This has been my passion since 18 years old and I hope to continue putting this town and its people first as Mooresville’s next mayor.”
Compton was a firefighter from 1974 until 2005. He returned to public service in 2011 when he was elected as at-large county commissioner.
He said he tirelessly advocates for the betterment of Mooresville and its people, and he seeks to take that commitment to the next level as mayor.
Compton said he bases his mayoral campaign on the fundamentals necessary for local government. His major points of attention include public safety, economic growth, and transparent and accountable leadership.
Voters will elect their new mayor on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
