Monroe police search for man involved in jewelry store burglary

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

MONROE, N.C. — Monroe police are looking for a man who stole a four-carat diamond from a jewelry store.

Police said a man walked into the Kay Jewelers on Highway 74 Tuesday and asked to look at a diamond ring.

He then grabbed it and ran out of the store, investigators said.

The man has a Texas shaped tattoo with the word "Texas" written on the inside.

This is the second time in six months thieves have targeted that Kay Jewelers.

In October, thieves cut a hole through the cinder-block back wall at the store.

Kay Jewelers told us they couldn't talk about the break-in or what was stolen.
