MIDLAND, N.C. — A Midland man is accused of shooting his stepfather to death Monday, the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office said.

Jason Allen Harkey, 45, was charged with second-degree murder.
Deputies arrived at a home at 14045 Hopewell Church Road and found Arthur Thompson, 71, who had been shot.

Emergency medical services could not save Thompson, and he died at the scene.
The deadly shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between the two men.
Harkey is in custody under no bond at the Cabarrus County Detention Center.
