CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte city officials are trying to figure out what to do about parking in NoDa.
They are testing turning parking spots next to businesses in the popular neighborhood into loading zones and in the future, it’s possible there won’t be free street parking.
Brian Wilson is the owner of a vintage clothing shop in NoDa.

“As the area grows and continues to grow, it is more and more difficult to enjoy things that are here,” Wilson said.
Recently, his customers have been ticketed while trying to shop inside.
“The city sees a way to generate revenue and all of a sudden, the enforcement comes,” Wilson said. “So, it is not to help business. It's to generate tax dollars.”
The Charlotte Department of Transportation is conducting a pilot program to find a parking solution in the congested neighborhood.
CDOT is polling residents asking them if they want to see permanent parking enforcement, time restrictions for spaces and meters.
“That's not no, that's not a good solution,” Wilson said. “That's disappointing.”
Wilson said he could live with meters but there has to be better communication from the city and more parking options, not fewer.
“Why restrict that at this point?” Wilson said.
CDOT said they are collecting residents’ feedback until the end of the month but they don't have a timeline for when if any changes will take place.
