CHARLOTTE, N.C. — This time of year, lots of people are mailing out packages and Christmas cards. But, if you spend just a few extra cents, you can make a major difference.
The newest stamp you can get from the Post Office may be simple, but it is making an impact on those battling post traumatic stress disorder.

This might not have been possible, but for a family in the Charlotte area.
Chuck Denny said his dad Garland Denny, a Navy veteran, met countless politicians, four presidents and hundreds of people all in his push for a stamp to raise money for PTSD research, but it all started in uptown Charlotte.

“He started out at downtown Charlotte at the square at lunch one day,” Denny said. “At lunch one day, and started talking to people. ‘I wanna go do this, let’s go to lunch, I wanna do it.’ I watched my dad talk to people he didn’t even know about helping people he didn’t know.”
