CHARLOTTE — Two men and a woman are seriously hurt after a shooting at a gas station in University City Tuesday afternoon, MEDIC said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call on North Tryon Street just after 3:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, police said they found three people with gunshot wounds.
Each victim was then transported by MEDIC to an area hospital and all are expected to recover, according to police.
Channel 9′s Glenn Counts learned that those involved in the shooting knew one another and got into a dispute over a parking space before shots were fired.

“I’m in the middle of making a withdrawal. All of a sudden I hear the gunshots go off rapidly — like fast. Like ‘pop pop pop pop,’” shopper Samuel Carson said. “I immediately stop what I’m doing, I take off running to the Golden Corral, I saw three to four other people in the parking lot, they were all running as well. It was a pretty crazy thing.”
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said they will be conducting an investigation into this incident.
They said cases like this can be frustrating because so many people are put at risk.
“This continues to be an issue for us, where we have people that are willing to go straight to guns out in the middle of the day, broad daylight in a very, very public place, a very busy place — it’s extremely dangerous. It’s extremely concerning for us,” Major Brian Foley said.
Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
