2 suspects wounded during road rage shootout

CHARLOTTE — Two people are facing charges after they shot each other during a road rage incident Tuesday night in Charlotte.

One of them was found shot at about 7:50 p.m. outside the Fourth Street parking deck near Interstate 277 and Exit 2A. That scene stemmed from a shooting in northwest Charlotte.

On Wednesday, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said the victim was involved in a separate incident that Channel 9 reported earlier Tuesday. We got information about several people hurt in a shooting on Hoskins Road, near Chesapeake Drive, around 7:30 p.m.

The investigation revealed that Matthew Moussa and Bruce Lynch shot each other in a road rage incident, police said.

Motorist Oliver Martinelli drives around the area where the shooting happened.

He said he’s been involved in some road rage incidents before.

“I won’t lie,” Martinelli said. “I’ve had my fair share of shouting.”

However, nothing got physical, he said.

“I think it’s really unfortunate that some people let the worst of their emotions get to them and take it out on others here on the streets,” Martinelli said. “I think people should think about it for a second and maybe not do that.”

Andrea McGhee said that when things get heated on the roads, she thinks about her children.

“You never know if somebody has a gun in the car and they’re going to really shoot you,” she said. “So when somebody’s angry, I just try to get out of their way and make it home.”

Moussa and Lynch were charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Lynch is also charged with possessing a gun as a felon.

Their medical conditions are not known.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
