CHARLOTTE — A section of Interstate 485 was shut down for several hours Wednesday afternoon after a deadly crash, according to officials.
MEDIC confirmed one person died at the scene, and another person was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Charlotte Fire said the I-485 inner loop at Mount Holly Road and Old Gum Branch Road was closed as authorities investigated the crash. It has since reopened.
A Channel 9 crew at the scene could see several police and highway patrol cars.
State Highway Patrol has not released any other details or said how the crash happened.
