CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said one person was shot while they were conducting an investigation at a south Charlotte gas station Tuesday morning.
Channel 9′s Gina Esposito arrived at the Shell gas station on Clanton Road next to the Interstate 77 north ramp just before 7 a.m. Police said the two investigations there involved two different cars at the gas station.
In the first investigation, officers performed a traffic stop on a red sedan. Officers said the car was involved in a robbery investigation after a QuikTrip in CMPD’s Steele Creek Division was robbed Monday.
The second investigation involved a silver sedan with front-end damage. Officers said the car’s driver had stopped at the Exxon across the interstate, next to the I-77 south ramp. The driver told police a suspect had approached him and shot him in the hand.

The hurt driver drove from the Exxon to the Shell station to ask for help, where police were already conducting the traffic stop on the red car.
MEDIC told Channel 9 they arrived at the scene for a shooting call and one person was taken to the hospital. They are expected to be OK, MEDIC said.
No roads were closed in the area and people were still allowed to fill their gas tanks as police investigated.
