CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mecklenburg County is making it easy for you to get a flu shot Friday. Doctors are really stressing how important it is this year, since hospitals are already inundated with COVID-19 cases.
County health leaders want to make the process as easy as possible so many people have a chance to get protected from the flu this season.

On Friday, you will be able to pull up to the health department in your car and get a flu shot.
Here’s what you need to know:
The drive-thru clinic starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. at the health department on Billingsley Road.
You don’t have to have insurance, but if you do, they would like you to bring your card with you.
Health officials say getting a flu shot will protect you and your family and it will help reduce the burden on hospitals and clinics as they navigate this flu season combined with COVID-19.
“We did a recent survey and what we found was that 30 percent of Americans who were traditionally on the fence about getting the flu shot are more likely to get the flu shot this year,” Toyosi Okurounmu, Chief Medical Officer at United Healthcare said.
The drive-thru clinic will start at 10 a.m., but if you can’t make it Friday, there will be other opportunities over the next couple of weeks.
