CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Mecklenburg County inmate died Thursday night after he was transported to a hospital.
Deputies said 34-year-old Jermarcus McIlwaine was being held at Jail Central in uptown Charlotte on charges of drug trafficking and possession of drugs.

Officers are investigating the cause of death.
