CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Six new park and greenway projects could be approved by Mecklenburg County commissioners on Wednesday.
County Manager Dena Diorio emailed commissioners Monday saying it is possible to approve the Major League Soccer and new park and greenway projects.
Diorio said the county can use money saved from a reduced MLS stadium deal and a land parcel sale to fast-track construction.
Commissioner Matthew Ridenhour is thankful but still is against using tax dollars to fund a stadium.
“I am glad to see those who want more parks and greenways in Mecklenburg County that their concerns are being addressed,” Ridenhour said.
The deal would expand Druid Hills Park and create a new Ezell Farms Park in Mint Hill. Four greenways would also be expanded.
