CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Department of Homeland Security is conducting a study in Mecklenburg County by supplying rain gauges equipped with technology that will help save lives.

“More people die from flooding than any other natural disaster and most of these people die in their car,” said John Wendel, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services.
