MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — People summoned for jury duty in Mecklenburg County can now use the county’s jury management system website on their smartphones.
By logging on to http://jury.mecklenburgcountync.org with a smartphone, users can search for jury summons by juror ID or their Social Security number, check their status and reporting date, request deferrals, and create an email reminder for jury duty.
According to a statement from county officials, the mobile version of the site will also use the phone’s GPS to locate the Jury Management Office and add the office’s phone number to the dialer.
The full version of the site launched nearly a year ago and provided people with the option of getting detailed information about their summons and requests that had previously only been done by phone or fax.
Since the website went live in May 2011, nearly 7,500 requests for deferral and excusal have been submitted.
