NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. — Raleigh entrepreneur John McConnell has sold his home on Figure Eight Island for the highest number ever in New Hanover County as beach homes continue to grab record prices.
McConnell confirmed Aug. 18 that he and wife Rebekah sold their property at 10 Inlet Hook Road for $13 million. The buyers were Ransom and Courtney Langford of New Canaan, Connecticut, according to county real estate records.
McConnell originally rose to prominence in the health-care tech field. In 2006, he sold his A4 Health Systems company to Allscripts for $272 million. That’s after he sold Medic Computer Systems in 2003 for $923 million.
He founded McConnell Golf when he bought Raleigh Country Club in 2003 and has since expanded the company’s reach to ownership of 15 clubs across the Southeast. That includes Providence Country Club in south Charlotte.
