CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Some schools in at least 12 states, including in North Carolina, have closed because of the flu outbreak.
CNN reports that many schools have closed for one day or longer as a result of the flu.
None of them are in the Charlotte area.

Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported three more children had died, bringing the total number to 22 for the season.

The Carolinas recently reported one new death from the flu. This season, 23 people have died from the illness in North Carolina and 20 in South Carolina.
