Marriott brands eyed for planned hotel project in Huntersville

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A hotel developer is targeting a site near Birkdale Village in Huntersville for a new project. The first in a series of public hearings was recently held.

At its meeting on Jan. 4, the Huntersville Board of Commissioners held a public hearing for a rezoning request regarding a 2.66-acre site at 16221 Northcross Drive. The applicant, Hotel Ventures of Lake Norman Inc., is seeking the approval to facilitate a four-story hotel project with 109 rooms, town documents show.

The development team is proposing a project that would include two Marriott brands, Fairfield by Marriott and TownPlace Suites, at the site.
