CHARLOTTE — The most surprising team of March Madness over the weekend — 15th-seeded Saint Peter’s stunning men’s basketball blue bloods Kentucky and then advancing to the Sweet 16 — is wearing a bit of Charlotte on its sleeve. Or, rather, on jerseys, caps, T-shirts and other items.

That’s because local sports marketing and sponsorship firm VPCo. is the agency behind the New Jersey school’s logo, letters, colors and uniforms. Saint Peter’s hired VPCo., which has a varied client list from the University of Georgia to Guy Fieri to Atrium Health, to overhaul its look in 2019.
“We worked with them to help develop the Saint Peter’s brand, the icon, the fonts, the type you’re seeing on their uniforms,” agency partner Tim Rebich told CBJ. “We worked with their team, with fans, with their leadership to really help determine the best direction for that brand. One of the cool things that came out of it is what you’re seeing on the court today: a very hard-nosed, blue-collar approach that we wanted to reflect.”
